The President of IYPT Martin Plesch took an inspection visit in Tbilisi and Kutaisi from the 21st till the 24th of February 2021.
Here is a short summary of the inspection:
Departure and arrival are supported to and from the Kutaisi International Airport. For those who would wish to arrive in Tbilisi and take a bus to Kutaisi, organizers will also secure travel from Bus station in the Kutaisi city centre. All jury members shall arrive early enough to take part on the jury meeting in the evening of the arrival day.
All participants will be accommodated in the dormitories at the KIU campus. These are newly opened buildings, well equipped. Students will be accommodated in en-suite double rooms, all leaders, jurors, etc. in single rooms.
There are still open questions regarding the catering and the location of the fight rooms and the finals, however, it is expected that all of these questions shall be settled down without any problems.
As it is very hard to predict the pandemic situation in July, more detailed planning of free-time activities will be done at a later stage according to the official COVID-19 measurements.
Taking into account all information gathered, the 34th IYPT tournament can be realized as planned at the Kutaisi International University in Kutaisi (https://www.kiu.edu.ge/) from 7th till 14th of July, with the IOC meeting till 16th of July.
The pre-registration for the IYPT 2021 in Georgia is closed.
The 34th IYPT will be held in Kutaisi, Georgia from July 7th till July 14th. The IOC meeting was held after the tournament. IYPT 2021 is going to be organized as a full-scale event, the host is the Kutaisi International University, Georgia.
The final decision about holding the event shall be done latest by the end of May.
EC works in parallel on the preparation of an online event so that if we decide that organizing a real event is not possible, we shall be able to organize an online event on the same dates as the real event was planned.
