IYPT 2001
IYPT 2001 – Espoo, Finland
(May 22 – May 29, 2001)
Overview
The 14th IYPT was hosted in Espoo, Finland, with Physics Fights held at Tapiolan koulu ja lukio in Tapiola. This year marked a significant structural change with the abolishment of the Semi-Finals, introducing five selective fights leading directly to the Final. PowerPoint presentations gained popularity, though overhead transparencies were still predominantly used, especially for Oppositions and Reviews. English remained the official working language, with Russian permitted for presentations and informal interpretation provided by multilingual jurors. The official IYPT website (iypt.org) was launched in April 2001.
